I was originally planning to fly from London to Belfast but whilst going over my itinerary with my Mother, she stated that she would love to see the house her dad bought his sisters and where they stayed when they visited England every year or two when she was young. I didn’t expect her remember the address at 89, but she knew it without hesitation. Soooo, a change of plan was in order. If I could fulfill my Mum’s desire on such a minor matter, felt obliged to so so. I needed to book a hotel room in Liverpool. Being short notice, I could only find a room in the town of St Helens, a 30 minute train ride from Liverpool Central. The Chalon Court Hotel was a surprisingly nice hotel in a fairly dreck area. Apparently the local council had decided in the mid 70’s to make a central shopping area. The fact that the majority of shops seemed to be charity shops indicated that the plan had not gone as projected. My cabbie on the way out of town supported my supposition.
It took most of the Friday to take the Tube, train & taxi to drive at my hotel, so nothing to show you of the day.
Saturday I took the train to Liverpool to do my duty.
There you go Mom, after 50-60 years, a Geach at 17 Trevor Rd and my first ever selfie!
