A Day at the Beach

by WBlackwell on May 4, 2017

It being a nice day, I headed to Charmouth Beach known for it’s fossils.  That is at low tide.  The tide was nearly high when I arrived so the pickings were slim.  Especially if one has no idea what one is looking for or at and the average rocks are anything but average with lots of flint and other types unlike any I’ve ever seen in the States.  But it is a great, long beach so I just strolled along.

That evening, back in Bridport, I once again went to the Tiger Inn where I met Paul, a local builder from Charmouth who has traveled the US more than I have and we had a good chat over a couple pints. When he heard I had little luck fossil hunting he said to hold on and went out to his van and came back with these:

Very generous of him although I don’t relish the new added weight to my kit.
