A walk in the park (s)

by WBlackwell on April 22, 2015

This walk took me down the Mall, through and around St James Park and past Buckingham Palace.  When I was planning the trip the US State Dept. suggested that for a trip this long, I should report to the US Embassy to notify them I was in country.  I should get a bigger map as the embassy didn’t seem far from my position. A British Police officer on guard duty at the French Embassy pointed the way.  ‘Just keep the park across the street (Hyde) on your left take a right at Grosvenor and you’ll come right to it.’ OMG!  When I dragged my sorry butt to the gate, I was informed that checking in was not required, they had no interest that I was in the UK.  Another 1/2 stagger and the tube whisked me back to my stop in 20 minutes.

Anyway, here are some pics.

You leave Trafalgar and enter via thai Admiralty Arch.

Many folks were taking advantage of the weather as it was a “day in the park”

The daffodils had pasted but others were just coming to blossom.

The Groundskeeper approves.

In front of Buckingham Palace is the Victoria Monument

Hyde Park was less colorful and much bigger.  Seems like a lot of fields for playing sports and all.

Today I’m off to the Tower of London.  By Tube as close as possible.
