Ayr #2

Ailsa Craig, the Fairy Rock,  is an island of 99 ha in the outer Firth of Clyde, 16 km west of mainland Scotland, upon which microgranite has long been quarried to make curling stones.

So few people on a great beach on a sunny summer’s day

I couldn’t find put what this pile once was

Good craic and a gift for my pipe

Craic was good here too

I met Ray at the bar, a hotel manager with the afternoon off. My 1/2 pint turned into a 2 hour chat. I asked him about the lack of fitted bottom sheets in European hotels, pointing out that few people need fresh towels every day but far too often the bottom sheets become undone over night leaving the bed (often jammed against a wall making making the bed problematic) a mess and better for housekeeping to sort out.  He was surprised at that because he had actually made a presentation to corporate sighting how much time his room attendants spent making beds and the cost.  He calculated over £1000/ month just at his property alone.  Deaf ears apparently.

£3.19 for a slice of haggis, slice of black pudding and a pint of Belhaven at Wetherspoons for a snack.

Next day I had a different piece of haggis here.

Peppercorn sauce

Back to Two Dugs for more tunes
