As I have said you can get here from Glasgow on the bus via Fort William, or by train from Inverness or from Skye. I’m going the latter way. This is a fisheries protection vessel in Stornoway harbour. Notice it has a Saltire on the side but no flag? Traditional fiddle music on the bus! Announcer speaking Gaelic.
Keep forgetting it’s March the weather is so nice
Harris/Lewis are often considered one island since the water separating the two could be stepped over in places. Tarbert, of which there are a few in Scotland means isthmus, and around 500 folk live here where the ferry runs to Uig on Skye.
A lorrie had tipped over that day somewhere east of Skye and all the buses were rerouted about a 2 hour detour. I found a bus to Portree and the snow capped mountains were a reminder that up a few meters it was still winter
After a couple pints in Portree I got on a bus that turned out to be he school bus! Since he was picking kids up, the bus was empty allowing for a nice chat with the driver who dropped me off at Plockton HS and a short walk down hill had me in time for the 5 O’Clock club.
The poor folks here thought they had rid themselves of me for longer than 3 weeks!
