Broughty Castle to Dundee Law

by WBlackwell on June 11, 2017

I got an all day city bus pass and headed out to Broughty Castle situated on the mouth of the Tay.  Built in 1496 and rebuilt in the 1860’s it must have been formidable.

Whilst walking around the town of Broughty Ferry where the Tay was crossed before bridges, I found Oor Wullie in his RNLI kit

And since the collapse of the oil industry in northern, Scotland years of work will be available decommissioning old rigs like these. Can you imagine living with that in your backyard as they take it apart for years?

Back in Dundee I went into St Paul’s Cathedral where I was surprised with a concert rehearsal in progress.

When I left the church the sun had come out so I decided to attempt the hike to Dundee Law a plug of a volcano overlooking the city.

Took over an hour from downtown Dundee but the views of the Kingdom of Fife across the river and the city were worth it.

From the base of the WWII memorial the views across the Tay

Broughty Castle

And all 360° were brilliant

Now it’s all downhill which simply means different muscles to ache.
