Cilgerran & Cardigan Castles

by WBlackwell on November 16, 2019

The English built over 300 castles in Wales to keep the pesky Welch at bay.

The valley below the castle would have been cleared of trees so no sneak attacks.

This pile is in pretty good shape, all things (like centuries) considered.

This shows how fat I’ve gotten since the last UK visit, so I’ll keep on walking. I have already moved one belt hole narrower.

Not much left of Cardigan but from the walls one can see how well positioned it was.

Behind the manor house is a very fine garden

Alan took me to the nicest restaurant in Fishguard that evening. Pigeon, smoked mackerel, cod & desserts
