Dublin Bits

Tallaght is my stop on the Red Luas, tram line and this is their shopping center. It was pretty impressive

The barkeep in Malone’s Glasgow suggested I visit Oliver St. John Gogarty’s Bar in Dublin.  It’s divided into many rooms ranging from the insane first bar where by 3PM everyone was plastered including all the hen’s having their parties there.  I opted for the one with the band

I enjoyed the Shamrock Band www.shamrockband.it.  They are actually based in Milan Italy but sound very Irish!

Temple Bar is the nightspot (or apparently day spot) in Dublin and this is the landmark pub.  By noon it was jammed.

A Hen Party is a bachalorette party.  To promote unity, this vehicle is powered by the women peddling as on bikes

A city filled with beautiful women who don’t seem to realize that their smoking will change that. Over 28% of Dubliners smoke.

And more women seem to use spray tanning than I saw in Britain.

As in Britain, I don’t know what they do to cause it, but so many women have holes in their pant knees

Overheard on a cell the line “You WILL be hearing from my solicitor”

Mostly flat and with street markers making it easy to get around by foot, bus or tram

Adele doing a live show on BBC with Grahma Norton was spellbinding.  Rest of Irish TV in hotel was rubbish, real rubbish

The most amazing thing was so many people speaking in a foreign language until I realized only to me as everyone seems to speak Gaelic! English was the secondary language it seems and prior to arriving I did not know that.

Two things that never happen on public transport according to locals .  First was back on Isle of Wight when the electric bus just stopped  and the second was the tram in Dublin as crowded as it could be it could not get a door to close so everyone off.

And as I mentioned a very expensive city.

Just as in Britain the tree leaves are not as brilliant as New England.  No orange and no red just yellow and brown.

Next time in Ireland I’ll be heading south from the city and then work the coast counterclockwise.
