Dumbarton Castle

Walked: 6.87 miles

I took a day trip to Dumbarton Castle today.  With my new walking app (they say running app but I can’t run) JS Running, I logged just over 8 miles on foot today. Seems like it was all up hill, even coming down.

Why no car? I’ve been asked.  Well the trip from Glasgow Central w/ return was £3.45/$4.64.  I bet I would have used more petrol than that. Anyway, the weather was still stiflingly clammy but the sun came out and the air improved. Had a great chat with a gent on the river front agreeing that politicians, with the exception of a rare few, are self-centered muttonheads. TM & DJT both fit the bill.  So far I’ve only been asked “How could America elect such a bigoted, racist, misogynistic fool for president?” or something very close to that.  And I give my word,  I’m not making this up, 5 times today.  Gonna be along trip

It’s pretty easy to see why this plug of volcanic granite was chosen as a defense of the river.  St. Patrick mentioned it in a letter in the 5th century.

River Leven

The Clyde has always been one of Britains more important rivers and is a favorite of mine.
