Edinburgh Fringe Festival

by WBlackwell on August 6, 2024

The train from Falkirk is about a half hour.

Nice chat with a couple from the Netherlands

Fringe crowd left me thinking of WC Fields “and unsheathing my Bowie knife, I cut a path through this wall of human flesh, dragging my canoe behind me”

Grassmarket has far more seating outside the pubs than inside this tie of year

Just a reminder that one of the best views of Edinburgh is from the roof terrace at the National Museum

St Giles

Burns Monument

A giant turd?

Arthur’s Seat

So many people needing to touch the wee dug’s nose.  I realized I’d never been in the pub so I sat outside and watched.  Nobody knows or cares that the dug is buried around the corner

A good place to take a break when you’re feeling half hung. As Maggie was.  After she was declared dead and put in the coffin she revived and soon was banging on the lid. Forty more years before she needed a coffin again

Was it the spot where a condemned prisoner had one last drink or was it the dropping through the hatch to their deaths?

This is why 1/2 pints are best.  Each pub had something new to taste and with so many pubs, full pints would soon leave me staggering

The wisteria is fake but still looked nice by the castle

Back in the day this marked the end of Edinburgh city.  Conversations for over an hour with a couple from California

Another nice one
