Not far from Plockton is the town of Dornie and it’s famous castle. The original castle began in the 1300’s and stood guard over the Kintail area of Scotland until destroyed in 1719. A Lt. Col. John MacRae-Gilstrap purchased the island in 1911 a for the next 20 years he rebuilt the castle.
