Long walk from the hotel, but I’m getting close
An engineering marvel. The world’s one and only rotating boat lift. A marvel of engineering and Scottish Canals’ flagship destination, The Falkirk Wheel. Connecting the Forth & Clyde Canal with the Union Canal in a half-turn that takes only five minutes and uses about £.5 electricity(about the same needed to boil 8 kettles of water) to lift/drop gondolas 35 meters. The wheel eliminated 11 locks with 44 gates. Using the displacement theory, the pair of gondolas are always equal in weight at a combined weight of about 600 tons.
Each gondola can carry 2 canal boats
And no, this puffer boat didn’t sink, it was passing through a lock
