Falmouth, England

OK, Lizard in the rearview mirror so to speak.  Trip over.  Mission Accomplished.  Well not exactly but the next planned stop was hundreds of miles north and I was in no hurry. The mouth of the River Fal (funny how you can guess the name of a UK river by the name of the town where it meets the sea) needed protection. Pendennis Castle built by Henry VIII did that very well.  The 16,000 lb tanker is Russian.  It ran around in December and it will cost the owners some serous money to get back.   Falmouth is a very nice city but it is not an easy one to walk.  Lots of hills but none that required handrails like in Glasgow, but still the legs were aware that night.

This castle has been ready since the mid 1500’s to defend the small island from a cross Channel attack that never came and in the two world wars stood strong.  Life in the WWII castle haas been recreated

The forward control room was like the bridge of a ship.  And for the UK, there really is a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow!
