My late mother had often spoken of us having relatives in the Fishguard area of Wales so earlier this year I used Mr. Google to see what I could find. And so I made a connection with a Sarah Geach thru a local church website. I received a response from her husband Alan who, it turned out, was both into his own family history and a distant relative. Our subsequent correspondences led to a generous invite to visit.
I arrived Sat. and that evening there was a wee block party to see the Guy Fawkes fireworks the neighbors lite. This is an annual event celebrating the fact that the terrorist, Fawkes and company, who planned to kill the king and the members of Parliament were caught and soon received their just rewards. Once more attempt by extremists to kill in God’s name. Fawkes was not the hero those in masks portray him as. He was no better than those who killed on 9/11.
The weather being nice when I arrived Alan & I took Widoor (W is pronounced V) for a walk with Sarah picking us up at the end and then off for a drive.

When I said distant relatives, our common ancestor died in 1785.
But our kinship and friendship is fresh and strong.

The evidence I have shows that our common ancestor was Thomas Geach, born in St Austell, Cornwall in 1717 and who died in 1786. Bill is descended from John Geach (1746 – 1820), the second son, and I am descended from Joseph Geach (1758 – 1841), the sixth son.
