Hamilton, The People’s Palace and more Glasgow

by WBlackwell on January 9, 2020

Hamilton is #8 and had some old to it. The liberty/community center was a fine building

As were others on the street

Looking down on a park where the battle had been

No explanation or artist name just 4 kids

No, I didn’t go in Fat Yankees.

Back on the train and to the People’s Palace.  I wanted to see the 3 portraits of Sir Billy that I had seen when first unveiled but they had only been on display a few weeks before the artists recalled them.  The murals of those will be on Glasgow’s walls for years.

But the boots remain

I wonder if the ladies’ loo has these tiles like the mens’s?

A break in the drizzle lightened the Daulton Fountain created in 1887 for the Jubilee

The Nelson Monument

Sadly the glasshouse at the People’s Palace is currently closed.  There is danger of panels falling and there has not been enough money raised to refurbish it.  I’m glad I was able to enter a few years ago.

A bridge to nowhere.  I have no clue but this bridge has no ends

I recalled that next to St Andrews RC there was a peace monument created from large mirrors.

One of 3 murals, this one depicting the young Billy C suddenly popped into my path

At about 104′ the bar is apparently the longest in Europe

Glancing up Renfield Lane. These wee cuties and friend caught my eye
