When planning this wander I initially looked at starting in Tallinn until I saw there was a ferry from Helsinki! Add: Cross the Baltic Sea to my bucket list and a couple weeks later it’s checked off.
212 meters 9 floors. Smooth as glass but unfortunately too foggy for pics.
The view from the tower is amazing the cabbie says
A very nicely retained old town. UNESCO site
Cabbie was right but WOW! the climb. 238 Circular and divers height steps with ropes to pull oneself up or was one down. When I huffed up the Wallace Monument there were 8 more steps but I was 4.5 years younger
The oldest sections of Tallinn’s city wall were built in the 13th century. During the next three centuries, it became one of the largest and strongest defence systems in entire Northern Europe.
More than half of the magnificent defence system has been preserved as a city wall – this includes 1.85 km of the wall, 26 defence towers, 2 gates and fragments of two front gates.
Nice room, bath location under $80/night
