Herm

Man first arrived on this wee (1.5 x .5 mile) island just off of Guernsey about 10,000 years ago according to tombs that have been uncovered.  Man arrived in the modern era about the mid 6th century with St. Tugual establishing a chapel in 709.

I thought it looked like the Caribbean.

The blue/green water and bright white sands gives the island a more tropical look than Jersey or Guernsey although the gorse give it away.

A Scotsman, Compton Mackenzie, lived here before moving to the Hebrides.  His Monarch of the Glen was made into one of my favorite TV shows.

St Tugual & his chapel

A week or two from the time I left the island will be covered in allium or onion

The obelisk in the distance revealed no further info upon closer inspection.

Here’s some more info about the island itself: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herm

I saw a couple of tractors and off road work vehicles but there are no cars on the island

Note the exterior stair
