I walked to Stromeferry so you don’t have to

10.3 miles

Not a bad day, some sun, some light rain but not cold and good rain gear. A walk in any direction from Plockton is always relaxing, stunning and interesting.

It is important to remember whom has the right of way in Scotland.

It’s not you.

I took the left in the photo and continued to the end of the road.  My friend Kenny happened by in his car wondering if I were lost.  I explained I was just working off last night’s beer but if he didn’t see me in a few hours, to please run up the road.  It’s good to have at least one person know where you are in case of accident.

I could see where this rainbow ended but no way was I going to get to the pot o’ gold before it dissolved.

This wall has been there awhile

Nice house in a great location

With a still active garden.

As is this one.

And this was a very long and impressive wall.  What skill and how much time to erect?

Is this mushroom a “magic” one? I don’t know, nor care, but it is pretty nice.

Literally the end of the road.  Stromeferry, don’t blink or you’ll miss it.

I had planned to take the train back to Plockton but 2 things thwarted that.  The first was the next train wasn’t for a few hours nearly as long as it took me to get there, but more importantly, I had forgotten my wallet.  I must remember to drop a minimum of £5. into all outerwear in the future.

I got turned around leaving Stromeferry and came upon the Loch Carron overlook.  Being familiar with it I knew I had gone the wrong way but asked the men loading a dead car onto a trailer just to be certain. To my surprise, and their’s too we recognized each other.  They were part of the group that had invited me to help build the Hogmanay (New Year’s eve) bonfire that I posted about in Jan.and one had been in the Inn the night prior.  This was very important a while later as I knew I had not the resources to make the entire 7 mile return stroll.  When a car slowed and asked if I wanted I ride, I replied “more like needed one” and I was returned to the village. I guess I found a pot of gold after all.
