The Museum wasn’t open yet when I came upon it but even from the outside I could see it would be worth coming back to later. The signs faded but basically the 4 speakers play songs and conversational recordings that vary with the wind speed. I wish I had the skill to add audio/video to the website but I tested early on as having no aptitude in computers so I owned a data management firm for over 20 years. Turns out I had a pretty good aptitude in hiring those who did.
I liked how this museum focuses keenly on the history of the Shetlands.
Saturday they had costumed interpreters and other staff giving talks. Samantha, an archeologist, told us about all the artifacts from the Scatness excavation and others some which are over 1000 years old. And why she loves her field. Ben, The Mountain, we can discuss her comments when I next see you, Lad.
Of course there were Shetland wool displays
And boats in a boat work shop my brother would love.
And there was also an artist show going on by Paul Bloomer. I was impressed by his thinking and loved his art. Thanks, Paul I’ll post one on FB I hope I got the titles right.
Poisoned Lake: The lake has been poisoned by greed and ignorance and now the snow geese have nowhere to land
Air: When we poison the air we poison ourselves
Flight: These swans are connected by a bond that exists beyond time and space
Return of Light: The light has returned to the land and these swan are reunited at last
Return of Light (2): The light has returned to the land and for now, all is well
And I think this one is called President and his Clan around Nov. 2016 Somehow I failed to capture Paul’s words exactly.
All words are Paul’s not mine. There are more and you can find him online
