Took the train to Kyle of Lochalsh today. It the next stop from Plockton. I’ve had a periodic deep cough the past 10 days and so went to get checked out. I’m expecting a long wait, a hefty bill for services and then for meds so I wasn’t keen on this at all but I was sick. Doctor said no bother as it isn’t infected and to see another if it gets worse. But no antibiotics. Roddy’s RumMac would be as good as over counter cough syrup she said. I went to the office window with my credit card ready and asked about paying my bill. 4-5 women were working and at once they all stopped and stared at me. This is Scotland and the NHS, there is no bill one said. I responded that I was a Yank and not covered. I am in as is everyone apparently. Damn socialist health care!!
