North of Moscow Plockton is. That’s what I saw as I looked at the globe in my den. I had been planning my next trip almost since my return in 2005. That trip was less than I hoped for and this one was going to be much better. Just like the trip to Loch Ness, for 2007 I needed a goal and Plockton became it. I just couldn’t believe they could grow palm trees, Cabbage palms or Cordyline Australis. I know North Carolina is closer to me if all I wanted to do was see palm trees, but palm trees in the Scottish Highlands, well that’s something.
I’d fly to Glasgow, rent a car, remove the left front hubcap and drive to the Highlands. Only one minor problem. The good folks at Continental Airlines weren’t quite up to the task of delivering both me and my bag to the same airport at the same time. The baggage attendant was none to pleased when informed where I’d be staying. I’m guessing it was an over 6 hour round trip to finally get me my luggage.
