Enjoying my stay despite the weather. They say there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing and attitude. My attitude is fine as is my gear. If I wanted sun Arizona would have been a better choice but I wanted the UK in all it’s green glory and to get the green you need the rain.
There are some nice walks in and around this village so between the showers or even despite them, I’ve been able to get some good exercise and take some nice photos. And in the afternoon, get some rest.
One simple wander is up the path next to the Inn and over the houses on Harbour Street. The views are great whether looking inland
or down on the harbor
and many or most of the houses on Harbour Street have gardens, patios or decks behind them. Given each one a different vantage point and place to rest.
Some of them are quite creative
And for the most part they have gardens opposite the street from the house that take full advantage of the weather provided by the North Atlantic Drift.
Near the end of the street there is the most spectacular Gunnera. Remembering how early it is in the season, this plant is about 1/2 the size it will attain by August.
To put perspective to this photo, that’s my cellphone on the leaf! The one meter wide leaf.
I think they might grow in New England if heavily mulched or maybe dug up and potted inside for the winter. Speaking of winter I think Plockton suffered two whole inches this past one. Not quite the 8 + feet I saw in in my former yard in Wareham.
