The bridge crosses the River Avon in Bath England. It was completed by 1774, and connected the city with the land of the Pulteney family which they wished to develop. Designed by Robert Adam in a Palladian style, it is exceptional in having shops built across its full span on both sides. I believe there are only 3 bridges left in country with shops on them.
The weir was originally built in 1603 and rebuilt in the 1970’s.
I had to walk behind the bridge to understand it as from one side it doesn’t appear wide enough for the 2 lane road and shops. Cantilevered ! Sorted.
