Not! It was a glorious day in Auld Reekie. Mild temps, bluest of skies, just grand, so I just started walking after check-in. My GH is near The Meadows so I began by cutting through this large Edinburgh park. Once, like Princes Street Gardens, this area was a loch that was drained and became a meadow, game field and park. I must have just missed the cherry blossoms.
Edged by the 1628 George Heriot’s School
Barclay Viewforth, a church
And this monstrosity. An apartment that nearly takes the title of Edinburgh’s Oddest Building from Parliament.
I soon found myself on High Street, the Royal Mile, so popped into the Museum of Edinburgh for a quick peek.
With the Mile thick with tourists and not knowing if tomorrow would be as nice, I bolted past the Tollbooth
and St Giles
to the roof terrace at the Scottish Museum
for one of the best inner-city viewing spots.
I’ve been in the Castle before so no need this trip but I did want to see it from a different perspective so I walked around it to Princes Street
A very serious castle indeed.
