It was a brilliant afternoon when I checked into Suzy & Tim’s Kenway Guest House. They’re new at the B&B game having only opened in June but they are doing great with newly renovated rooms, good location and great breakfast.
Around the corner I found an upper promenade road with large old homes and hotels on one side and the North Sea on the other. In the distance I saw a castle so off I headed.
This is one of the long beaches in Scarborough that lead it to become one of England’s first sea resorts.
The stone walls of the castle were begun around 1150 with the keep being destroyed in 1649.
Scarborough Harbor
After the castle i headed to the harbor for the view and hopefully a pint. Along the way St. Mary’s was worth a bench stop.
I found my pint! The Golden Ball is a harbor side pub owned by the Samuel Smith and they serve pints at £2. That’s $2.6 US!! The 1.5 mile walk back to the B&B helped clear the head
