I’ve been to so many British resort towns they’ve begun to blend. Here there’s a miles long sandy, not pebble beach , short pier, promenade and the mandatory few blocks of rides and entertainment shops, and chippys. The High Street is usually perpendicular to the beachfront. The beach road is nothing but Guest Houses. Always.
All the same and all good for a couple days even in February. I couldn’t imagine being here in the high season. You’d have to “pull out the Bowie knife and cut a path through a wall of human flesh” as WC Fields once said.
What can I say? Skegness had both a great name and was the last stop on the rail line. Over the years I have often gone to the last stop and am continuing my circumnavigation of Britain.
Even with all the wind turbines (30+) the cancer rate doesn’t seem higher than normal
Nice beach & pier
I could not find the local I usually can root out. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t find some good spots
Damn! I missed the party
I just popped in the see the place. Sunday carver at low prices so tons of OAPs
Promising but members only
Second floor and no.
The B&B has the kid’s playroom over mine and the wall at the headboard is to the 8 washer laundry room where other properties bring their stuff. When I came here I was think of doing another ‘end of the line’ run to Kings Lynn but I’ve hit the wall. Instead I’m going to call it a wrap and head to Gatwick. Either get a flight tonight or get a room and head out tomorrow.
In the hotel at Gatwick. I was told that there is one of the oldest bars in the UK about 1/2 mile away but could not do it. Maybe next time. I’ll just sit here and have one last good pint.
