Stornoway

by WBlackwell on March 1, 2019

The POTUS’ mother came from the island of Lewis so, having never been, I thought it might be interesting to see orange people.  Shocker! there weren’t any orange folks but…

Ooo kaaay. The first thing that caught my eye on the way to my Stornoway B&B was this lawn ornament. Not sure what to expect next. We’re pretty remote here but I’m surprised political correctness hadn’t visited.

And it turns out the buses don’t run on the island Sunday so I gotta do some quick plan changes. And instead of plenty of vacancies this time of year, very few are even open.
I don’t really love this type of challenge when I suddenly have to make unexpected plans with a day’s notice.

I spent the remainder of the day walking the town.  The first statue remembers that this was once a big herring port.  And English is the second language

This hooded crow was furious with his reflection!  Beat the hell out of the glass

I wanted to bring the monkey puzzle & Gunnera home with me
