Time to move on. I can’t explain why there are no photos of the trip from Auld Reekie to Loch Ness. Probable the victims of computer crashes over the years. Or maybe I didn’t take any? The A9 to Inverness via the Cairngorm mountains was spectacular, but I have to admit that when I came across a gate that, once closed, would shut down the road in case of severe snow, I was gobsmacked . What if you got to that part of the trip and the road was suddenly closed? What if you lived on the other side? Remember this was no’ wee single track road. I still can’t grok that although I once read in the Scotsman that there are only 115 snow removal vehicles in the whole country. Seems daft as we put that many on the road for a good storm in my town of Wareham, Ma by itself. One town.
From Inverness I headed down the northern side of Loch Ness to the village of Drumnadrochit. I couldn’t go all the way to Scotland with out seeing the Loch, standing on the Castle and searching for Nessie.
