The People’s Palace, Glasgow

Opened in 1898 the People’s Palace & Winter Garden was created to provide a cultural center for the common people. The glasshouse gave comfort and hope during the winter and the museum is an eclectic gathering of all things Glasgow.

Outside stands the Doulton Fountain, the largest terra-cotta fountain in the world.

In the US this would be called a pony-tail plant.  I had one for 20 years and it reached the massive height of 2 feet.

Many people use the Norfolk Pine for a Christmas tree

And when the stalk rising from the clump of grass flowers, the plant dies, although new shoots can reemerge.

In the museum we see such thing as this cart which was used to tote drunks off to dry out.

And the comedian Billy Connolly wore these boots in his early act
