No that is not a whisky, it’s apple juice, and yes that is a smoked haddock or as some call it , finnan haddie and a solid start to the day.
48F/8.8c seemed warmer on the walk. I do this wander every time I’m in Plockton someday I hope to have shots of the same places from all seasons/months, maybe I’ll make a calendar. That this time of year the mosses stand out. I first came to Plockton in Feb. 2007. Went kayaking that year and unfortunately swimming! Not this time. As I walk to James & Cat’s “big hoose” at the end of the village where Ian & Jimmy’s walks are I see the giant Great Gunnera with massive 2 meter wide leaves that usually blocks this view of the harbour is done for the season leaving a brown mass of detritus.
First stop is the the view of Duncraig Castle, built from proceeds of the Opium Wars and more of a big house than castle.
Just enough snow to make the photo
Suddenly I see this monster rig where I know there has never been one. That evening I learned all about it, but you can learn the interesting story of it’s journey here:https://www.bbc.co.uk/…/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-46863…
The opening page of this website shows the village of Plockton from up there. I think I can still make that journey.
A great example of a New Zealand Cabbage Palm. It was to see palm trees so far north of Moscow and hear music that first brought me to the village. Oh, yeah there was this woman…
The Plockton Hotel with it’s loch side beer garden and the Plockton Inn stagger the music nights
I’m staying at the Inn and it’s time for a cold one
