Museo Telmo & other San Sebastian stuff

by WBlackwell on May 10, 2018

Wandering around San Sebastian with no itinerary.  Remembering to look around, look up, grab some tapas and just see, hear & enjoy the cool and the odd.

In the heart of San Sebastian is the delightful Telmo Museo.  The first exhibit was by Tony Ray-Jones called “Simple Pleasures”  And it was the simplicity that I found intriguing.

Behind closed doors I entered a huge room with these wall coverings by Jose Maria Sert depicting life in the Basque country

I saw people gathered in the rear of the room over a presentation on refugees. It needs no commentary from me.

After saying this needs no commentary, I find I must comment.

We are born where we are born because of the luck of the draw so to speak. Some countries are better off than others.  Why should people in the less fortunate countries not attempt to improve their status in life by going to the countries whose citizens are better off?  And by what audacity do those whose good fortune had them born into the more affluent countries allow them to reject or lock up those other human beings attempting to simply seek the better life?
