When you go to Barcelona, the #1 “must see” is this church. Gaudi’s gaudy masterpiece.

In 1882, construction of Sagrada Família started under architect Francisco Paula de Villar. In 1883, when Villar resigned,[4] Gaudí took over as chief architect, transforming the project with his architectural and engineering style, combining Gothic and curvilinear Art Nouveau forms. Gaudí devoted the remainder of his life to the project, and at the time of his death at age 73 in 1926, less than a quarter of the project was complete.

There really are no words.

Over 130 years after construction started you can see by this wall there is still more facade to add.

All the tiny (well actually not tiny when one takes in the immensity of the whole) details like these clusters of colored balls are part of what makes this church such a marvel.

I didn’t go in.  €20/ head to enter and double for a tour.  And way too crowded. These pics are from the internet.  Not cheating if you own up to it.

6.5 miles
